In the spirit of Comme Des Garcon’s bohemian guerilla stores, Gucci is launching the ‘Gucci Icon-Temporary’ – a pop-up store retailing limited edition trainers that will travel the world.
The first pop-up store is slated to launch in SoHo, New York this October, lasting a few weeks before moving to another city. Future locations will include London, Paris, Berlin and Tokyo – needless to say the coolest cities on this planet, style-wise.
The shop will stock 18 trainer designs in all, 16 for men and two for women. Gucci has collaborated with music producer, DJ and trainer addict Mark Ronson to design one unisex trainer for each city.
According to published reports, Gucci’s iconic GG logo and famous red and green stripe will feature in the new trainer designs – a theme that carries through in the design of the New York pop-up.

Sienna Miller’s photo spread in Nylon magazine, points the way to the return of grunge. Bid au revoir to the 1980s, and bonjour the 1990s!

The Dr Marten’s boots I used to scrimp and save so hard for (grunge epitomised my teenage years), are now back with a vengeance! I love the no-brainer, throw-anything-together, “je ne sais quoi” state of grunge that just needs a pair of Dr Marten’s boots to validate.

It’s official, the 1990s are back before we’ve even exhausted the 1980s era of capitalist OTT fashion. Stirrup pants? Those were so last year!
As we move from Dynasty to Seinfeld, the fashion emblem of the 1990s minimalism zeitgeist that once propelled Donna Karan to sartorial stratosphere is back – the humble bodysuit.

The Queen Mother of fashion blogs, The Sartorialist, has published a coffee table book. Here’s what Amazon.com has to say:
Book Description
Scott Schuman just wanted to take photographs of people on the street who looked great. His now famous blog (’the bellwether American site that turned photo blogging into an art form’ – “New York Times“) was an attempt to showcase the wonderful and varied sartorial tastes of real people – not only those of the fashion industry. The book is a beautiful anthology of Scott’s favourite shots from around the world. They include photographs of well-known fashion figures as well as those shots of the anonymous passerby whose imagination and taste delight the viewer. From the streets of Rio to Bejing, Stockholm to Milan, these are the people that have inspired Scott and in turn, inspired designers and people of all ages, wages and nationalities with an interest in fashion. Intimately designed and created with Scott, the book is a handsome object in its own right, in full colour on hand-picked, quality paper. –This text refers to the Paperback edition.
An absolute necessity for the fashionista’s library.
